The Willow Class is off to a great 2017!
The upper elementary students are busy conducting research for their trip to the Montessori Model U.N. in April. We are exploring the impact of desertification on Senegal and the world, as well as potential solutions. We will begin writing our first position paper next week. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our fundraising efforts by contributing to our coin and can drive, or participating in our child care and pajama party events. Vivianna’s stepmom, Sarah Zilinski, is also selling made to order crochet hats and other items. You can view her Facebook page by clicking here.
The upper elementary students got to meet state government officials when they visited the state capitol in Hartford last week.
The first year students are in the middle of a series of lessons studying the states of matter. We are also studying reptiles and enjoyed a fabulous field trip to the Mystic Aquarium last week. We saw a sea lion show and the hospital where sick animals stay. We pet sting rays, and played with the beluga whales.
We will conclude our study of Antarctica by watching the documentary, March of the Penguins. Then we will begin our study of Africa. If you or anyone you know has connections to African culture and arts and would like to share with us, please let us know.
