Elementary School News, May 2018

Dear Families,

We have had an exciting April and we’re already enjoying May!

The children have been doing so much cooking. Our most recent meal was chicken tetrazzini. It was a lot of work but they did great. I can’t wait to see what other meals they choose!

In April, we had chicken eggs in an incubator. While we did hatch 1 chick, it was more of a learning experience. We are hoping to be more successful with our next batch of eggs.

The Willow room has helped with lots of planting. Our gardens are filling with flowers, herbs, and vegetables.

We also have started seeds, many of which have started to sprout. Soon we’ll be able to plant some zucchini, yellow squash, cucumber, parsley, chives, green onion, basil, watermelon to add to the gardens.

The Kindergarteners are enjoying learning what it’s like to be an elementary student during their mornings in our classroom. They are doing familiar and new work, helping cook our weekly school-made lunches, and learning our routines. Some were able to join us on an afternoon field trip to Turtle Creek early this month and some will also be able to accompany us to the library for the remaining visits this school year.

We are looking forward to more time outdoors, hopefully more hiking, a field trip to the Roger Williams Zoo and Bushy Hill Nature Center.
