December was a busy month!
The Elementary practiced and practiced the songs for the celebration on top of their regular work, which included research on a Native American tribe or civilization. In January, we’re looking to complete this research. They’re also going to begin learning more about meal planning and cooking. We have been learning about basic food prep, including food groups and shopping for food. We will be expanding lessons to learn more about nutrients and more involved food preparation. They really enjoyed baking bookies for the celebration as well, we hope you enjoyed them.
Last month the students really enjoyed attending a wonderful performance of The Nutcracker ballet at the Garde Arts Center in New London, and the USS Nautilus in Groton, in addition to their regular outings for snack shopping and visiting the library. In January we’re looking forward to visiting the Mashantucket Pequot Museum to further our North American studies and shopping for our own fabric to make pillows to use during our morning meditation.
Keep warm and remind your child to bring in their snow clothes, boots, hats and gloves in case we are able to venture outside.
