“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot. Nothing is going to get better. No it is not.” Dr. Seuss from The Lorax We had such a nice time meeting with you all during parent teacher conferences!
March has flown by. At the beginning of the month, we celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday by rhyming, reading stories and having a community lunch. It was great to share food and to celebrate as a whole class. Thank you to Laura Meisel for helping with the celebration.
In April we will be celebrating Earth Day, and studying ecology. As part of our Earth Day celebration, we will discuss different small changes that we can make that will help the earth. We will discuss the concepts of reduce, reuse, and recycle and explore the dynamics of the earth’s ecosystems. We would appreciate any help you can give, by bringing in items made from recycled materials. If you have any small recycled items at home, or objects that teach the children about reusing and reducing materials, please bring them in for your child to share during gathering. As part of our lessons on ecology, we will do planting and study the life cycle of insects. We will host a praying mantis and caterpillars in our classroom. The children will also have lessons on composting.
In our cultural study we will journey into the grasslands of Africa. We will discuss animals and some of the tribes of the grasslands. We will have a djembe presentation and continue learning chants, songs and games.
Thank you for all you do. Your children are wonderful and bring us joy each day!
Peace and love, Miss Jen and Miss Brooke
