Enrollment

Thank you for your interest in the Children’s Tree Montessori School in Old Saybrook, CT. We look forward to introducing you to the Montessori philosophy, our community and curriculum, and getting to know you and your child. Our admissions procedure is outlined below.

Home Visit (Toddler/Primary Communities)

CTMS understands that young children need to feel loved and secure with the adults responsible for their care.
In order to help establish those needs, all newly enrolled students will be given the option to have a home visit with their teachers. This visit helps create the first attachment between toddler, teacher, and their parents within the child’s familiar environment.

Orientation & Phase In

On two orientation days before school starts, students from the Primary and Elementary communities come to school for two hours each day. In a small group, they become familiar with teachers and the classroom and make friends with other new students. During this time, there is a mandatory parent orientation. Toddler orientation will be scheduled in August by the classroom teacher.

The Toddler Community Phase In Schedule

1st Week: 1 hour per day
2nd Week: 2-4 hours per day
3rd Week: regular schedule


  • Learn

  • Tour

    Contact the school administration to schedule a tour, where you will speak to a representative, tour the whole facility, and find out about the programs that we have to offer. This is a good time to tell us about your child and have any questions answered. 

  • Apply

    Fill out the application form and submit it to the school with a non-refundable $50 application fee or click here to apply, you will be redirected the Procare website, a childcare management software company that we use.

    If your child is currently enrolled in another school or early childhood program, please forward their records to our Admissions Office.

  • Observe

    After you tour the school and apply, the admissions team will contact you to arrange a time to observe a classroom. Observations are scheduled at 9:00 am and take approximately one hour.

  • Student Visit

    After your child’s application and fee have been received, the admissions team will contact you to arrange for your child to visit the classroom, meet the teaching team, and spend some time at CTMS. Elementary children are required to spend 2-3 consecutive days.

  • Letter of Notification

    After careful consideration of the appropriate placement for each child, the school will notify you of acceptance in writing. CTMS has a rolling admissions, however most children start school in September or January.
